Aisha, Saisha... Wuteva!

So loads of people have expressed their desire to know my opinion of India's very own Chick-flick- AISHA. Guess watching a movie during d weekend of its release has its perks. Here goes then...

Loads of hype & hoopla surrounded the making & the release of this film. I guess glamourous outfits, young romance & peppy music still works on our gullible audiences (myself being one of them) But the movie doesnt have much beyond what we see in d promos. The direction isn't fast-paced & the script isn't crisp. The star cast disappoints too- Abhay Deol's talent has been wasted, Ira Dubey lacks the charm of her mother, Lillete Dubey, Amrita Puri perhaps stands out for fititing the role perfectly but I can't quite recollect any other character from the movie except for of course *sarcastic drum roll please* Sonam Kapoor! The movie has been made for her, revolves around her and clearly her character is based on her real-life personality- Rich Daddy's Little Girl. But she manages to look pleasant on screen with her designer outfits, neat make-up and 1000 watt smile. As Aisha she's perfect... but her versatilty as an actress is still a big question mark.
So summing it up, I'd recommend the movie if you can watch it in less then Rs.100... just for the stylish outfits & fab music. Else, save yourself the time & money.

(Spoof on the promo,
Sonam :" Tumhari New York returned Anita"
Abhay:" The name's Aarti"
Sonam:" Yeah, Wuteva!" )

Imaginary Person: " So wat movie did u see"
Me: " Woh... Anil Kapoor ki SAISHA"
Imaginary Person: " The name's Aisha"
Me: " Yeah Wuteva"

P.S.- Maybe giving free Christian Dior outfits to movie goers would've improved public perception of the film! Clearly the film-makers have a LOT to learn about PR. :P
